See The Damnwells perform in NYC on 09.02.10 for $10!

The Damnwells have been hard at work on their Pledge Music funded record for the last few months, and we are finally ready for you to hear it… live! We are putting on a very special intimate show in NYC at Rockwood Music Hall on Thursday, September 2 at 7:30pm. We will be performing the new record from start to finish, plus a few favorites (with a special guest or two). We are setting aside 30 tickets FOR PLEDGERS ONLY at the discounted price of $10 dollars. If you have not already pledged, it’s not too late! You can still pledge on many things like a signed CD, T-Shirt or your name in the credits! You will be able to purchase these special discounted tickets here at our pledge site when the sale goes live on Friday, July 30 at 12:00pm (noon) EST. To be fair, we are limiting ticket sales to 3 per person.

If you are unable to get your discounted tickets through the pledge site, regular price tickets will be on sale Monday, August 2 for $15 though the Rockwood Music Hall website.

Well Alex has finished his MFA at Universary of Iowa and he and Angela will be moving back to LA in the next month. The Pledge Music fan supported album is in the process of being mixed. Anyone who pledged for a house show, your pledge will be made good, the guys are working on scheduling those house shows, as well as plotting a future tour. Hopefully I’ll be able to vamp up this site a little bit over the next few weeks so check back for any changes as well as tour dates to be posted as they’re announced.

“Golden Days” is now available to rent via Netflix. If you have an account, add it to your queue!

Many of you have been asking about this documentary for some time. We are happy to announce it is finally here! Come out to the Music Hall of Williamsburg next Friday, August 28th to celebrate the release of this really embarrassing film and we will melt your faces with an hour or so of scorching mid-tempo rock!!! Oh, and the DVD will be for sale at the show, too.

This is our last show for a while, so if you’re on the fence about coming out, take the plunge and come hang out with us for a night in Brooklyn!! We’ll tell jokes and drink beer and forget each others names.

The last two NY shows sold out. We recommend getting advance tickets.

Merchandise! Merchandise! Now that you’ve downloaded The Damnwells’ new record One Last Century for free, go buy a f-ing t-shirt! No, for real, check out the new Damnwells merch store. We’ve got some new t-shirts and, for those of you who would like a physical copy of the new record, we’ve got that, too. And they’re really nice, with liner notes and pictures and art. Limited edition! We only printed about 2,000. You can also get the record from select independent music stores that are part of the Coalition of Independent Music Stores fraternity, aka CIMS. Check to see if there’s a CIMS record store near you.

Also, Alex Dezen now has a twitter feed you can follow at twitter.com now, which is a little weird.

There are still tickets available for some of our summer shows, but act fast. Most of these shows will sell out and there are no future tours in the works as of yet.

As of February 10, 2009, Paste Music will be offering the new Damnwells record, One Last Century, for free download from their website. Go to www.pastemagazine.com/thedamnwells and download the record for free. In the meantime, check out our myspace page to hear some songs from the new reocord.

A few words regarding this free record.

I suppose the hardest thing to explain to people is why I’m giving this record away. “You’re just going to give it away?” seems antithetical to the human brain. “Is this just a bunch of b-sides or something? Some ‘give away’ material you don’t mind releasing into the ether?” No. Quite the contrary. I have never worked so hard or put so much of myself into a collection of recorded songs. It is for just this reason that I want to give it away. To me it makes perfect sense. I just want people to hear this music, and I don’t want them to have to enter into some kind of contractual agreement with a third party to do so. Download the record, copy it and give it to your friends, lovers, and enemies. Whatever. It’s so hard these days just to get the actual music into people’s houses and cars, let alone their ears. Besides, I know everyone’s broke, maybe I can supply the soundtrack. So, I just want to give this music away because I want people to hear it. I should have done this years ago. I’m starting over.
